It's amazing but it does work. I took a chance though but after seeing some clips on how it works I thought it worth a try. Fantastic method of pumping water. Next phase is to take it down the borehole about 500m from the water tank at the house. This will be the THE test but I'm confident it will work. The water table at the borehole is quite close to the surface, about 3m. So that should be no problem for a Brumby. |

I am extremely concerned about these issues and I truly believe that our only chance in solving all four is through conservation and clean renewable energy. We as individuals must act now. I have decided as an average citizen to change my own habits and behavior to become apart of the solution and I'm hoping to convince my friends and neighbors to do the same. All of these issues revolve around one problem, our addiction to oil and other fossil fuels. With what I believe is a grass roots movement around the world, I have just begun the systematic process and modification of my home with the idea of conservation and the "soon to be added" production of renewable energy. I hope to be apart of a movement that helps our nation and the world become self reliant in order to save our planet. It is my belief that "we" as Americans can each do our part as individuals with the combined effort to make real change. We do need government help, however it can start in every home in America with the idea of reducing our carbon foot print in an attempt to reduce our effect on the planet as well as our dependency on foreign and domestic oil. We as a nation must lead the world in renewable energy. It will provide our nation with power, stability and a planet that can sustain life. |

Well I haven't found a mechanic that would mentor me so I decided to figure things out for myself with help of youtube community and MB forums. I've gotten this automotive stenoscope from a yard sale a while ago. But only recently had I figured out how to use it. This little device is amazing. I've taped one of the ears to an external microphone of my video camera and started poking and prodding around my engine bay. I've known that something is wrong with the cooling system of the W140 but wasn't sure exactly what it was. Well I think now I know. The metal grinding sound surely cannot be that good. The new water pump, thermostat and gaskets are on order. I will make a new video after the install. I'm very curious to find out how different it will sound. As far as timing chain, this is where I might need the other MB experts to weigh in. I'm not sure if the metal clunking sound is normal or indicates some kind of problem. I do have a spare chain tensioner that came with the car when I bought it. So it might be an indicator that the previous owner meant to have it replaced. I'm going to pop the valve cover pretty soon too, but only after getting (or making) as set of valve adjustment wrenches. |

Ran into some problems taking the old pump off however. 3 of the Bolts broke! Yea, that sucked. One of them was a long bolt going all the way through to the block!. But, the other 2 went through at the top and I was able to drill them out. Put a piece of all thread / bolt thread through the water pump and the backing plate with nuts on each end to keep it clamped tight. Put a nice thick layer of sealent between each side of the gasket and let it cure for a few days. The long bolt that broke got epoxy putty put through the water pump bolt hole to keep it sealed from leaking. The two bolts nearest to the broken one should keep it clamped well enough. Hope it holds good! If nothing else, not leak as much...lol Will comment on the results. VT247 |
