It's is fairly simple and is alot of fun to make. There are many different ways to go about making it, but this is the way that i've found works best. Scented oils, a different base, and different wick material are all things you can adjust to your prefernce. If you use shoe string as the wick, get some that are pure cloth. Those with any synthentic materials will melt fairly quickly. There a few things I would like to mention as the 10 minute youtube limit didn't allow to say everything. The wick will slowly burn down to the cap, at which time you will need to pull the wick back out a bit. Also when the lamp is burnt, it lets off a smell. Just as all oil lamps do (i assume). It's not a smoky smell. One question that you might have is about safety. Well, I tested dropping a lit light bulb oil lamp. When the lamp hit the ground, the flame went out and the oil did not light. The oil that I used is rated as 'combustible' and not 'flammable' like gasoline. This basically means that it must be hotter to ignite than gasoline. This makes it much safer. Regardless, be careful with it, as can accidents can still happen. Do not leave it unattended. Enjoy your Oil lamp!! This had to be the most fun I've ever had making a video, mostly because this band was so awesome to work with. And what do you know, it turned out great. I only had a budget of $100, and with enough bartering I got enough materials to make that light bulb backdrop by hand. Wires, sockets, bulbs, switches, drilling, everything. However, I was missing something. I figured, since I was going to use ptw's song, why not feature them in it as well? 'The Container' is the latest yacht from industry trend-setter schã¼tz, which is in fact not a classic yacht-building firm but specializes in the development and production of construction components. The company's venture into the area of yacht production has proved a huge success: In fact, it was a vessel from schã¼tz which won the 1993 Admiral Cup. Ultimately, it is the focus on material which makes schã¼tz special - the firm creates lightweight construction material - including the honeycombs that can be found in the Airbus A380. So, despite its 20 meter length, 'The Container' manages to be relatively light. The materials were developed by engineer Peter Kress. DW reporter Holger Trzeczak met Kress at his office in western Germany where the pair visited the schã¼tz production lines and boarded 'The Container'. | | | | | | Carl Zeiss CT Scan of a Light Bulb Author: CarlZeissIMTCorp Length: 1 minute, 7 seconds Rating: 5.0 | Description: Our METROTOM industrial Computed Tomography system offers truly unique capabilities. Applications include internal and external precision metrology (in microns), internal and external visualization, assembly analysis, defect analysis, and reverse engineering. Most of us dont give much thought to the internal structure of a light bulb when we flip the switch. But by peeling away the different densities of materials in the light bulb, or by virtually slicing through the light bulb, we can see the inner components and structure. We can employ similar techniques to perform measurements of the relationship of one component in an assembly to another component. What to Do if a Fluorescent Light Bulb Breaks Fluorescent light bulbs contain a very small amount of mercury sealed within the glass tubing. EPA recommends the following clean-up and disposal guidelines: Open a window and leave the room (restrict access) for at least 15 minutes. Remove all materials you can without using a vacuum cleaner. Wear disposable rubber gloves, if available (do not use your bare hands). Carefully scoop up the fragments and powder with stiff paper or cardboard. Wipe the area clean with a damp paper towel or disposable wet wipe. Sticky tape (such as duct tape) can be used to pick up small pieces and powder. Place all cleanup materials in a plastic bag and seal it. If your state permits you to put used or broken fluorescent light bulbs in the garbage, seal the bulb in two plastic bags and put into the outside trash (if no other disposal or recycling options are available). Wash your hands after disposing of the bag. The first time you vacuum the area where the bulb was broken, remove the vacuum bag once done cleaning the area (or empty and wipe the canister) and put the bag and/or vacuum debris, as well as the cleaning materials, in two sealed plastic bags in the outdoor trash or protected ... | | | | | | Weekend Project: The Arc Light Author: makemagazine Length: 5 minutes, 9 seconds Rating: 4.4917045 | Description: Build an amazing 19th century arc light out of simple materials. blog.makezine.com
