Description: This is the first engine start of my latest project, a derelict 1973 Holden HQ Coupe Ute. It was last registered in 1993 and has sat exposed in a paddock for around 10 years or more. All I have done to this stage is blow out the spiders, fill it with clean oil, clean up the starter motor (full of rust for some reason), clean the plugs and points and then pour some Nitro Methane / Methanol into the carby as can be seen in this video, it even picked up the old petrol in the tank, and then Voila! It lives! It is currently fitted with a 173ci straight six which runs amazingly well (even the noisy lifters are quiet now after running for a while), but I suspect it will become the new home for my frankenstein 253ci V8 shown elsewhere on youtube |
